I'm so ANGRY!

"Ahhhhh!  It's not fair!"  Sometimes our children are better at expressing their anger than we are.  However we often shut them down instead of applauding and training them.

We all know (most of us by experience!) that "man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires" (James 1:20, NIV).  Most of us have also heard, "the truth will set you free" (Jn. 8:32).  What to do, then, when the truth is that we're mad?!

Many Christians have a hard time admitting their anger, especially when it comes to being (gasp!) angry with God.  Instead, we try to stuff it down and deny it, covering it with words like, "frustration," and telling our children not to be angry.

Unfortunately, the old adage is true: to bury anger is to bury it alive!  The solution is found in a simple word: confession.   Typically our anger is unrighteous.  Yet it is there, and to deny it only leads to further sins of bitterness and unforgiveness.

So, let it rip.  Tell God how you really feel.  He already knows anyway.  And don't worry, He can take it.  When we have poured out our heart to our maker, then we will have made room to receive His response, reproof and forgiveness.  He is now free to replace our anger with His love.

Thankfully, we have a God who can "handle the truth," and who will set us free.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9
